This page outlines how image number 137 was put together and
demonstrates some of the techniques that are used. I hope that
it also answers the question that I am often asked about how
I create my images.
The computer programs that I used for this were Poser, Bryce, and Classic
Painter. I also use GIMP and Vue.
For hardware I use a Wacom Intuos
graphics tablet and pen.

Step 1: The Figure
|
Using Poser, a figure was created in the pose of someone hanging
from a cross. This was the resulting figure - from three different
views: |

|
Step 2: The Scene
|
Using Bryce a cross was created using two rectangular blocks with
a wooden finish. The bright light was also added above the cross
- although this is not so obvious here. |
|
|
Next a dark sky was added. |
|
|
Finally the figure was imported and moved into position. Here
is the resulting wire frame scene from three different views:

The yellow globe is the light simulating the lightning flash,
and the blue shape indicates the camera position and the direction
it is looking. It captures the following scene which was rendered
and saved: |

Step 3: Finishing
|
The work up to this point is mostly graphical design. The remaining
tasks needed to complete the image are pure artwork for which Classic
Painter is used. The graphics tablet and pen are essential for this.
|
| First
the nails were added to the wrists, and the hair and crown of thorns
to the head. Some texture was also added to the arms so that they
would not look so bleached. |
|
| Next
the lightning was added and the sign with its own shadow.
|
|
| Finally
some small text was added to the sign and the wood was made more
realistic. The image below the arms was also darkened, resulting
in the final image. |
|
|
To this image was added the verse. Click on the image below to see
